Thats what has happened with the art pieces at JJ School of Arts, Mumbai. Some of the expensive paintings made by students have been stolen from the college premises. They were stored in cupboards inside the college and students say that its 'coz of lapse in security. Some of the painting were very old and worth lakhs of rupees.

'Garuda' is the name of the fuel-efficient car launched by RV College of Engineering, Bangalore. Students of RVCE toiled months to create this product that gives a mileage of 200Km/litre. Whoa! These engineering students are really doing the needful for fuel price-rise!

Uiimaa! The JEE, India's toughest entrance exam for admissions in the IIT has failed to get the best on board this year. Or so say authorities. Coaching classes have been enabling the not-so-intelligent students to crack the test. But my point is, the one who has cracked the test has surely worked hard, if he/ she has. So, whats the hungama? Come 25th July'08, Naga Naresh Karuturi, a physically disabled students will a B.Tech soon from IIT, Madras. With amputated legs since the age of seven, its indeed a great achievement to have successfully completed a mainstream graduation course and that too from a reputed institute like IIT. Reminds me of another girl from Mumbai; visually impaired, who recently got through Jamnalal Bajaj Institute to do her MMS. Struggle is Nothing, I guess!

Contact the Delhi Student's Anti-ragging Squad then. Yes, a whole bunch of students in Delhi University have taken it up on themselves to stop ragging. They are doing the rounds in the campus and catching hold of anyone who's found doing the act. They will also install CCTV cameras on campus so they can curb eve-teasing and ragging. Fine. Not literally though, the students of St Xavier's College, Ranchi decided to do just the same to the stringent dress code imposed on them. No tight T-shirts, no round collared T-shirts, no wearing jeans with more than four pockets, no sleeveless, no tight tops, no leaving hair open... To top it all, no sunglasses! Students obviously, didn't abide by them and were seen sporting sunglasses and tight Ts all the same. Way to go, I say.

"Not me!" That seems to be the answer coming from students in the south. Latest statistics have shown that students in Tamil Nadu and various other parts prefer private colleges for engineering and are saying a flat 'no' to govt colleges. Top-ranking students showed the same hostility even towards the IITs, surprisingly! Wonder whats come over them! Or is it that the Govt colleges are not up to the mark?

Jai Hind College has now roped in students' parents to keep check on their attendance. Basically, if you are in Jai Hind your folks will be asked to fill in an undertaking that will allow the college to debar you from examinations if you don't meet the required attendance. Poor parents seem to not know about the proxy system yet.
