Yes! Yes!! and one more over exclamatory Yes!!! We got the big cat, Jaguar and Land Rover too. What I am particularly excited about is the fact that both the companies are British and it gives me immense pleasure to know that an Indian firm acquired it. Ratan Tata's a nice man, really. Looks like he's on a revenge spree for the time when they threw Jamshetji Tata out of one of the Brit hotels and he vowed to make one of the worlds best hotels, right here in India.

Not really, but I'm really proud at how Tata are soon going to be a household name in the snobby British households. First Corus, then a tie-up with Virgin Mobile, and now two of the most iconic automotive brands in his pocket. And with that, we become the second largest phoren investor in the UK. Woot! I was skeptical about the whole thing, though. Jaguar and Land Rover haven't really contributed much to Ford's earnings sheet. But the buyers must have been shown the forth coming models and they probably came out impressed. I have to agree, the Jaguar XF and the new Land Rover LRX, really look the part. And I am sure they go like stink, too. They always did.

Tata will come closer to the larger auto conglomerates like GM and Ford with this and make a really classy entry into the big-boys club. Yes, the Nano did put the lens on India and this just brings it back again. If Tata can build something in the mid-range of the spectrum, Tata'll arguably have the widest range of automobiles to place your arse in.

Jaguar and Land Rover both have their very own list of high profile customers, for which you can see the front page of today's Times of India. And it gives me immense pleasure to know that The Queen of Elizabeth will soon be strutting around in an Indian car. Now you have an Indian diamond and an Indian car. What next? Muhahaha. I feel evil. And effin proud.

So what if Ford is funding one year of the acquisition, (which sounds like a good joke, seller funding buyer) and Ratan Tata is scurrying around looking for spare change to pay off the promised salaries of the JLR employees. He may be biting more than what he can chew, but the big boys, have to play with big toys.

Yo Rajesh bro...
You dont seem to understand the magnitude nor the intricacies of businesses involving metal and that too if the business is all about involving hydrocarbons..
Oil prices are rising.. really rising.. 107$ a barrel.. thats shit high friend.. The govt cannot cap prices for eternity.. IC engines are not gonna be the 'IN' thing then.. We are talking of high end consumers here which may carry considering the ones who will be buying wont care to blow their pockets for fuel.. but, the spark.. the status is not carried in terms of jaguar..
Yeah.. the deal may click considering most auto firms keep about 20% as the profit margin and if TATA considers adulterating the components of jaguar in the sense of keeping phorein design and procuring spares from locals.. thats gonna be something TATA will seriously consider..
But, if we bring Pirus or likes into foray.. yeah.. TATA has wanked off his downgrade from now.. Ford is not gonna be a thing of the future.. the scene is gonna be as the one Ford Escort went through.. into obscurity.
First it was Corus.. then this... I dunno

Mr. VC ,
I know Mr. Tata Should have taken your trusth full advice befor selling out 2.3 Billion deal. But he did nt know about your capabilities to see what big business icon of Mr. TATA couldnt .
Some would even question he is selling car @ 1 Lac when next cheapest model is good 60000 costlier .

Many indian companies where in Fray before TATA was declared the preferred bidder .So everyone is fool to see sense in thjis deal .

50 Professionals are worked to make this deal possible .

So all this is beyond your sense & blwing over the top .

Forget the tech crap, Illusionist. True car lovers will realize the rumble in the engine, the feel in the steering wheel and the sheer seat of the pants excitement.

If your chassis, brake and suspension logic still works, I say go get a Ford Model T and trick it out.

I dont realise the hype in technology wrt cars..
All a car needs is an engine, a chassis, brakesand suspension and looks..
Brakes and suspension are not manufactured by Ford, chassis is not much to be talked about, i suppose Tata has bought Ford just for looks which makes him look real lame..
I respect that dude guys but, this is a bland move by the dude who made Nano a reality..

NOT MODELS....BUT ENGINES ARE WHAT WE ARE CONCERNED NOW....

taking over 'jag' & 'rover' a good move!!!!!!
....no!!!!....
the worst thing ratan tata has ever done guys....
jag & rover are history......kamal nath says that there's gonna b exchange of technology...
yeah i agree with him...exchange of technology which is 15 years old...
this is a bad move by tata & soon it will regret it...
with global warming increasing, oil prices increasing;only sucky technology has been got by tata...
toyota with its bestsellar 'prius' & daimler with their hybrids & honda coming with a hybrid civic the only thing that looks good for tata is the nano...i mean what did they get with this deal????
age old cars with vintage designs & no fuel economy!!!!!
the world's going hybrid & the tata's are going.............
i think mr. ratan has blown it over here & i totally disagree with u all,& say that this deal is not gonna work out for tata motors.....on a +ve note, ford should be happy that they could sell 'jag & rover',
already they have lost the entire market to toyota,i hope they can recover sumthing with this money.....

Speaking on financial and business lines, Sir Tata has gone a bit overboard...
It may sound goody goody but its the 'Indian' brand I am worried about. Too many wrong steps can wreck that image.. only vintage TATA cars will remain then..
